Malabrigo Silkpaca
Baby alpaca and silk lace weight with incredible softness and a luminous sheen. Dreamy for shawls and delicate accessories.
What is Silkpaca?
Malabrigo Silkpaca is a lace from Malabrigo. Composition: 70% baby alpaca / 30% silk. One skein holds 420 m of yarn and weighs 50 g.
How the yarn behaves
Malabrigo Silkpaca is a two-ply laceweight yarn blending baby alpaca and mulberry silk. The alpaca brings warmth, softness and a subtle halo, while the silk adds a quiet sheen and good strength. Despite being a laceweight yarn, the two-ply construction makes it sturdy and well behaved, so it is ideal for intricate lace shawls, wraps, scarves and fine-gauge garments that block out beautifully. It can be held double for fingering-weight projects, and it crochets cleanly. Alpaca and silk both have very little elasticity, so the fabric drapes rather than stretches. Care: hand wash cool with mild detergent, do not wring, dry flat and block gently to bring out the pattern.
